Ugo Corte (Ph.D. 2012, Uppsala University) is an award-winning author, and professor of sociology at the University of Stavanger, Norway. His first book, Dangerous Fun: The Social Lives of Big Wave Surfers (University of Chicago Press, 2022), won the 2023 Charles Horton Cooley award from the Society for the Study of Symbolic Interaction (SSSI). His research on risk-taking, creativity, collaboration, and culture has been published in some of the major scientific journals in sociology. He teaches university courses on the sociology of creativity, sociological social psychology, and ethnographic field methods. Skateboarding has been his first love. He listens to fast music, enjoys intense characters, and pursues living different lives.
