Johan de Nysschen started writing in his early twenties. He attended a course at Success College and published a few short stories in Sarie and Rooi Rose, well-known South African magazines. Life and work took over and it was only at a later stage that he has taken up the hobby of writing again. His stories were published in Huisgenoot and Vrouekeur. One of his short stories was included in Lyfskap, an anthology published by Leonie van Rensburg and Sophia Kapp. In 2020 and 2023 two stories were published in the US Woordfees anthology. Another anthology, where two authors had combined their creative talents in one short story, was compiled by Stefaans Coetzee. Johan and Elsabé Welman’s short story was selected for publishing. This book is expected to be published by Naledi Publishers during the first half of 2024. While all that had been happening, he also tried his hand at longer stories and chose to start with an e book, as a logical next step.
