Nick Lund is a writer, birder, and conservationist from Maine. His love for nature and birding led him to start a blog back when those were new and cool in the early 2000s. He wrote about birds at the defunct BirdDC website before starting The Birdist in 2006 or so. He still publishes things there! He's also written for the Washington Post, National Geographic online, the National Audubon Society website, Slate, and more, in addition to weekly regular columns in the Portland Phoenix and Maine Sportsman. He published two books in 2022 - The Ultimate Biography of Earth and the American Birding Association Field Guide to the Birds of Maine - and looks forward to more in 2024. He sometimes can't believe how lucky he is to live on earth, and is honored to share his love to nature with anyone who'll listen.
