I have been working as a graphic designer for over 20 years, and I am also a Professor Emerita at Kennesaw State University. During my time there, I founded the graphic communication program within the School of Art and Design, which has won multiple student awards. I am proud to have received the Distinguished Teaching Award on two occasions in the School of the Arts. Additionally, I have been recognized by Graphic Design USA (GDUSA) as "An Educator to Watch" and "A Person to Watch" for my contributions to education and the field of graphic design. Recently, I was honored to be included in GDUSA's "60 Years of GDUSA People to Watch for Six Decades (1963-2023)" list, alongside renowned designers such as Milton Glaser, Massimo Vignelli, and Saul Bass, all of whom I studied during my undergraduate and postgraduate studies at Howard University.

My primary focus is on achieving excellence in teaching and ensuring that students truly learn graphic design. I accomplish this by establishing a solid foundation in graphic design fundamentals, problem-solving, and design thinking. I also encourage creativity that goes beyond simply following tutorials and learning software programs. My teaching style emphasizes student engagement and highlights the importance of research and the design process in solving visual problems and meeting clients' needs. I firmly believe that becoming a graphic designer is not just about acquiring skills; it's about developing a mindset that embraces continuous learning and adaptation to the ever-evolving design landscape, all while loving what you do!
