Hungarian-born Laido Dittmar hails from a distinguished Hungarian-Russian circus lineage, making him a fourth-generation performer in a family steeped in circus tradition. As an internationally acclaimed artist drawing upon two decades of expertise, Laido has collaborated with prestigious companies such as Cirque du Soleil and Recirquel. His extensive contributions to the circus arts have earned him widespread recognition and numerous awards, celebrating his mastery and innovative approach in his art form. His achievements are highlighted by: - The Star of the Stage Award (Porond Csillaga Díj 2017), honoring his exceptional performance and contributions to the live entertainment scene. - Outstanding Hungarian Artist of The Year Award of 2022 (Karádi Díj 2022), acknowledging his significant impact on Hungarian arts and culture. - Hortobágyi Károly Award (2024), a prestigious state decoration awarded in recognition of his contribution to the elevation of circus arts on a national and international level by the Hungarian Ministry of Culture. Laido's educational years were enriched by the diverse circus traditions of Hungary and Russia. In Hungary, he was immersed in the legacy of his multigenerational circus family and was also influenced by his mother's legacy as a member of the celebrated teeterboard group “Doveiko”. His education in the art form was further enhanced in Russia, where he was honored as an invited guest student at the renowned Moscow Nikulin Circus. Since then, he has toured the world, leaving his mark in numerous countries with his unique, contemporary style of juggling. The world-famous Circus Sarasota from the USA said the following about the talented performer: “He is quite possibly one of the greatest jugglers you will ever see.” His personal and world records include being one of four jugglers who ever flashed 10 rings while balancing a ring on their head and being the second juggler in the world to flash 7 ring backcrosses, according to 'Juggling Wikipedia'. His performances are characterized by a blend of tradition and innovation, paying homage to his family heritage while pushing the boundaries of the circus arts into new and exciting territories. “Dreamlight”, his signature juggling act, is infused with the sound of jazz. Despite its story being set in the 1950s Hollywood musical world, it has been breaking traditions in more ways than one. The modern technical solutions it provides to tell its romantic story have been hailed as groundbreaking, introducing elements previously never seen in the circus world. When not touring for worldwide performances, Laido endeavors to inspire a new generation of artists, athletes and practitioners by passing on his knowledge through his book, “The Art of Practice - Same Effort, Twice The Progress, Any Skill”. This book presents a unique system and methodology designed to help practitioners of any fine or gross motor skills or sports rapidly accelerate their progress in practice to achieve their full potential. Additionally, Laido actively conducts workshops that are accessible globally, leveraging online platforms to reach and inspire practitioners worldwide.
