Jeanette Obas

Born in the heart of Rhode Island, raised in Massachusetts, I’m a New England girl. I grew up with ten brothers and sisters in foster care before being adopted with my biological brother when I was ten. It was then, in my childhood that I found my love for books, starting with Judy Bloom and Goosebumps. I was never much for television but instead, loved curling up with a good book, hidden away from everyone else where I could let my imagination run free. It took sometime to find my way once I became an adult, but once I was on a clear path, I finished my MFA in Creative Writing and started on my journey to becoming a “real” writer. After years of writing poetry and short stories and tucking them away, I am finally ready to get out into the world and hope that I can find that audience that can relate to my work and loves to read as much as I do. I love poetry enough to want to write my own, but my heart lies with psychological thrillers with one of my favorite authors being Shari Lapena. During my MFA, I wrote my first novel, “Hippo” which I am excited to publish next winter, but before that, I will try my hand with a few short stories and poetry collections. If you love thrillers as much as I do then you’ll do great with reading Hippo. These characters are a piece of work. Along my journey, I picked up a few strays (not literally) I have my three loves, my oldest being my daughter, I have my middle child a son, and the baby of the family, my youngest son. I’m married to my support beam, and have been for twelve years and hoping to continue this journey with them beside me.
