Kay Bush is an author, licensed school counselor, and certified Youth Mental Health First Aid instructor.
Author of two books, Alberta Lee Wareing Blue: Her Stories and You Can Do Hard Things: Life Tools for Teens, Kay learns from the life stories of real people. Whether compiling her mother’s memories of her life, or the stories of young people, Kay is an empathic listener and life-long learner of people.
For over forty years, with education in psychology, child & family development, and school counseling, Kay has been listening to the stories of young people. She has supported teens and children in hospitals, support groups, and educational settings. From these spaces, Kay learned how teens get through tough life situations. Courage, belief mindset, skills of perseverance, and resilience are the tools that empower young people to take charge of their circumstances.
As a certified Youth Mental Health First Aid instructor, Kay teaches adults to recognize signs and symptoms of mental health challenges in teens and how to offer responsive care.
Kay is the founder of the You Can Do Hard Things project, an online platform that encourages youth to share their stories of challenges and how they found their strength through them. Their stories are the inspiration for other teens to uncover their strength, keep moving forward, and know they are never alone.
Kay welcomes all conversations about empowering youth.
