Luke Stegemann

Luke Stegemann is a writer, teacher and cultural historian who has divided his adult life between Australia and Spain. He is the author of The Beautiful Obscure, Amnesia Road and Madrid: A New Biography. In 2018 he was the inaugural winner of the Premio Malaspina for an ‘outstanding contribution to the development of cultural relations between Australia and Spain’. Amnesia Road was winner of the 2021 Queensland Literary Award for Non-Fiction, the Mark & Evette Moran Nib Literary Award and finalist in the NSW Premier’s Prize for Australian History. Madrid: A New Biography is published by Yale University Press and in Spanish as Madrid: Historia de una ciudad de éxito, by Espasa.
