Martyn Cornell is a historian of beer, brewing and beer styles and has been writing about the history of beer for four decades. He was born in London, but had his first pint of beer aged 14 in the garden of the Rose in Bloom pub, Seasalter, Kent and fell in love immediately. He has published eight books and dozens of magazine articles on the subject of beer and brewery history, his work has been translated into more than half a dozen different languages, including Swedish, Greek, Italian, German, Spanish and Portuguese and he has spoken at conferences on the subject of beer history in the UK, Ireland, Denmark, the Netherlands, Italy, the United States and Brazil. He is an eight-times winner in the British Guild of Beer Writer awards, including Beer Writer of the Year, and a three-times winner in the North American Guild of Beer Writers awards.
