Ann M. Edens, Esq., is an accomplished family law attorney with over 30 years of experience practicing in New Jersey. As the founder and owner of Edens Law Group, LLC, based in Chester, NJ, she has built a reputation for providing compassionate, expert legal counsel to families navigating complex legal matters. Her extensive career and dedication to her clients have made her a trusted authority in family law. Ann's Story... I grew up in Morristown, N.J., when it was still very rural. I spent days in the woods climbing trees. After High School, instead of attending college, I married my sweetheart. Sadly, this marriage ended in divorce as often happens with the parties are simply too young. As we had no children, it was a simple divorce. I then began attending Drew University in Madison, NN.J., a small rural liberal arts college. I majored in Sociology and minored in Psychology. After college, I worked for five years to save up money for Law School. I attended Law School in Manhattan at Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. Upon graduation, I worked for a short time with a Family Law Firm, and in 1994 I opened my firm in Chester, N.J. I can't believe it has been thirty years! I am naturally a very private person and I have found that people often perceive me as introverted and shy due to this. When they find out I am a divorce litigator I often see a widening of the eyes. To be clear, as a divorce litigator, I am not shy and introverted, but a zealous advocate both for the children impacted by the situation and my client. However, these two personas are not mutually exclusive as my "wins" are serving to guide the divorce process while helping empower my clients to not just get through it, but also grow and become stronger. When I am not busy strategizing with clients, I am often giving back with my time. I enjoy volunteering as a court-appointed mediator in Morris County and for the Morris County Early Settlement Program. My firm also volunteers for the Jersey Battered Women's Center as volunteer attorneys. My volunteer work outside of acting in the capacity of a lawyer includes working at a local food bank and participating in 5Ks to raise money for Safe and Sound, of Somerset County. Outside of work, I can be found spending time with my two fantastic children, husband, and three dogs, traveling abroad, and reading, among other hobbies. I especially enjoy sailing, paddle boarding, hiking and other adventures that keep me active. On a personal level, I remarried to a wonderful man one year after graduating Law School and he has taken this journey with me. We had difficulty conceiving and immediately turned to adoption to make our family dreams come true. I, myself, was adopted, so it was a logical step and we now have two wonderful children. Building connections and impacting the lives of my clients in a direct way is what I love most about my work. I constantly repeat that information is power, and having a skilled divorce attorney gives you that information and power. THe initial strategy session with my clients is a crucial learning process, about who you are a nd who your children are as individuals and about the intricacies of the law. Wheter you are contemplating or already embroiled in the divorce process, give yourself the empowerment of education!
