Dr. Kate McGarry is a Developmental Psychologist who gained her Ph.D. from the University of Birmingham in 2014. The author specialises in early childhood development and issues around toileting in children. Dr. McGarry has two young children, one of whom suffered from stool withholding. As a result, the author used her research skills and knowledge of developmental psychology to create an evidence-based approach to tackling this condition. Dr. Kate McGarry has published this approach in her book "Stool Withholding: A Practical guide for Parents" to help other parents tackle this condition. She has also created other interactive children books which use the character "Squiggy the Poo" to help children engage in potty training and to encourage pooing on the toilet.
