Dr. David Stephens is a seasoned clinician and leader in issues related to mental health, who has focused his efforts over the last 15 years on neuroscience. As a former supervising psychologist at the Colorado State mental hospital and a director in correctional mental health, he brings a unique perspective to the challenges faced by individuals with mental health and substance use disorders. He is a sought-after expert in the fields of brain function, mental, and correctional mental health. His work has been instrumental in shaping policies related to mental health care within correctional settings. Dr. Stephens has spent the majority of his career training statewide directors of mental health within the correctional system on brain function as well as geriatric issues facing the nation's prisons. He served as the academic Dean of professional psychology, including both Master's and Doctoral programs. He has been interviewed several times to discuss topics related to mental health, correctional mental health, brain function, addiction, and marriage.
