Dénes House grew up in the Evangelical Church. His parents came to Christ in a Charismatic, Jesus-Movement-style church, later moving to the Assemblies of God. Later still, Dénes pursued ordination and full-time ministry in the Christian & Missionary Alliance. He came to faith as a child, was discipled through InterVarsity in college, and served for 10 years on InterVarsity Staff in the New York/New Jersey region. With InterVarsity, Dénes developed a reputation as a skilled teacher of the Manuscript Bible Study method, with a specialty in Worldview studies.
After celebrating a decade with IVCF, Dénes left to go to seminary, graduating with a Master of Divinity degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in 2005. Since 2005, He has served as the Senior Pastor of two C&MA congregations, first in Rochester, NY (for 8 years) and then in Poughkeepsie, NY (for 10+ years and counting). Dénes has had articles published in InterVarsity and C&MA publications throughout the years, and since COVID has recorded a daily devotional podcast through New Beginnings Christian & Missionary Alliance Church in Poughkeepsie, NY.
On the side, Dénes is an illustrator producing fine art and comic book-style illustrations, selling commissions and prints at comic book conventions and online, and selling fine art greeting cards through a specialty gift shop in New England. He has been married to Karina Hahn House since 1997, and they have two college-aged children, one attending Biola University with a major in Cinema and Media Arts, and the other at Drew University, studying Theater Costuming and Tech Design.
Dénes is an active member of his local Star Trek fan club.
