Dr. James Davis

Dr. James Davis is a data scientist, entrepreneur, professor, girl dad, crypto miner, and combat veteran. He holds a PhD in Information Systems & Decision Science, an MS in Computer Science, and a BS in Mathematics. Dr. Davis has multiple certifications in project management (PMP, Scrum Master, & Scaled Agile Consultant) and graduate certificates in Blockchain Applications (Duke) and Entrepreneurship (Babson). A retired lieutenant colonel, Dr. Davis served with distinction in both the active Army and Army Reserve, including combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. His military career highlights include command positions at the company and battalion levels. Outside of the military, Dr. Davis has served as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for multiple startups, where he blends his passion for technology and entrepreneurship. He regularly participates in community programs that teach entrepreneurship and volunteers with STEM initiatives. His achievements earned him recognition on the SiliconBayou100 (2014, 2015, & 2016) and Business Report’s “People to Watch” (2021). When not immersed in tech or teaching, Dr. Davis spends time with his wife, Sarah, who, as the “real” doctor (physician) in the family, keeps things running, and their three daughters: Sarah Jane, Helen, and Lorelei, who ensure life stays lively. A somewhat competitive rifle shooter, a golfer who’s perfected the art of losing balls, and a fisherman who waits for the fish to come to him, Dr. Davis attributes much of his success to the grit and resilience forged through military service, entrepreneurship, and long days working on his family farm in Alabama.
