Fardous Hosseiny is the President and CEO of the Atlas Institute for Veterans and Families (A Centre of Excellence on Mental Health), based at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre in Ottawa. Before joining Atlas, he served as the interim National CEO and National Director of Research and Public Policy at the Canadian Mental Health Association.
Fardous is passionate about mental health system transformation, focusing on Veterans and their families, substance use, and underrepresented groups like newcomers, immigrants and refugees. He’s also a frequent voice on mental health issues in outlets like Global News, CBC, CTV News, The Globe and Mail, and The Toronto Star.
He was part of the Canadian delegation to the 73rd UN General Assembly and helped shape the first-ever UN event focused on mental health.
Fardous serves on several committees, including the Five Eyes Mental Health Research Collaboration and as an executive advisor for the Global Alliance for Mental Health Advocates (GAMHA). He’s also a board member for the Canadian Juries Commission and Renascent Addiction Treatment Centre.
