I grew up in a small town with my mother and father (and many dogs). My dad operated heavy equipment, so I grew up around big machines, and my interest in them has never faded. I pursued a degree in mechanical engineering, and I now run an engineering company. My wife and I enjoy life as parents to our two wonderful children. When my son was born, I was excited to read children’s books about heavy equipment with him, but I was disappointed in the books available, as the pictures and information were inaccurate. So I took it upon myself to create a children’s book about machines that was both entertaining and informative. After I wrote the book, I had no clue how I was going to find drawings to include. Then I discovered one of my coworkers is a talented artist, and she agreed to illustrate! Amazon's self publishing process made the book possible. I am planning a follow up book about heavy equipment, it will include more details to captivate older children. If these books are well received, there's a whole bunch of interesting topics I'd like to cover! I always joke that my interests haven't changed since I was six years old, haha!
