Tomas Kohoutek is an award-winning creative director, author, and illustrator based in Brooklyn, New York, who enjoys bringing children, grown-ups, and nature closer together in fun and playful ways. As a storytelling dad and peacemaker, Kohoutek is passionate about sharing Mother Nature’s message with all the warriors who could use her guidance, love, and energy. His innovative stories, often doubling as personal development books, are designed to inspire meaningful family conversations and help young readers navigate life’s changes and challenges, such as family conflicts, moving to a new home, surgery, and more.
Recognized for his advocacy of mindfulness and the therapeutic power of nature, art, and storytelling, Tomas emphasizes the importance of reconnecting with the natural world and fostering healing through active imagination, creative expression, and outdoor play.
While there are plenty of brilliant teachers and gurus helping grown-ups with some of their physical and mental challenges, Tomas couldn’t find many mentors children could learn from or follow on their own terms. And because, as a kid, he had to face many difficult situations, he decided to travel the world in search of the best childhood counselors and healers. During his travels, he met many amazing people and took notes from plenty of valuable books, but the knowledge he collected from Mother Nature and her little helpers — the wild Teddus bears — was by far the most profound. Their magical insights, guidance, and tools ended up improving his physical and mental health so much that he decided to dedicate the rest of his life to learning everything there is to know about these bears and sharing their wisdom with anyone who needs it.
He hopes that you and the children in your life will have the chance to discover nature’s magical powers too, as they can bring balance to our busy digital lives and reveal something new—not just about the world around us, but also about the deeper responsibilities we all share toward ourselves, one another, and our struggling planet, Earth.
