Nick Merna

Dr. Nicholas Merna, Associate Professor of Bioengineering at Hofstra University, specializes in vascular tissue engineering and plant-derived biomaterials. His research fosters interdisciplinary collaboration, advancing bioengineering and enriching student skillsets. A recipient of Hofstra’s Researcher of the Year Award and the Lawrence A. Stessin Prize for Outstanding Scholarly Publication, Dr. Merna also leads diversity and mentorship initiatives, including the STEM Peer Mentorship Program and the Interdisciplinary Undergraduate Research Community.
